If you approach your treadmill workout using the mindset that you’re going to spend an hour or so walking at a medium pace while maybe reading a magazine or the latest issue then that’s not the easiest method to lose fat fast. Walk in a comfortable pace at zero incline for 5 minutes.
Crank your intensity up a notch from your warm up; you may also want to provide a bit of an incline to the mix. Everyone’s exact mph can change but you should be walking quick enough that supporting a conversation could be moderately difficult. Hold this pace for two main mintutes.
As soon as you’ve finished your 2 minute walking period, dive straight into a minute long running interval. Again, the precise pace is going to depend on a number of variables, however, you should be spending so much time enough that you would rate your exertion at 8 or 9 from ten.
Be certain that you’re challenged. Nothing bothers me more than clients who do not push themselves. If building a 6.5 miles/hour is easy, improve your performance. If walking at 3mph is straightforward, walk faster.
You set the speed where you are comfortable and permit the treadmill change the grade randomly. This does get extremely challenging after a few minutes and may count as interval training.
